Increased Bone Density with Dried Plums

I read an interesting study on dried plums and reversing bone density. It was published in the British Journal of Nutrition (2011) and title Comparative effects of dried and dried apple on bone in postmenopausal women.
Major Points of study:

  • Reversal of bone density in postmenopausal women with dried plum in ulna (forearm) and lumbar spine (low back)
  • General theory fruit and vegetables improve bone health by change in acid-base balance
  • Specific improved bone density related to dried plum decreasing rate of bone turnover and the associated drop in Serum CRP levels which are associated with inflammation in many chronic disorders

It provides alternatives or at least supplements to current drug therapies.
