Tom Willemann is a premier physical therapist based out of Bergen County, New Jersey. He holds an MS in physical therapy from the University of Miami, is credentialed in the world-renowned McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), and holds an OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist) certification.
As of 2018, there are approximately 14,000 ABPTS-certified specialists nationwide, and less than 400 are in New Jersey.
Tom is the owner and director of Apex Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Paramus. He opened the clinic specializing in spine and sports injury prevention in 2004 after many years of experience in the field. Tom's caring interest in others and his strong belief in the continuity of care, combined with his clinic's ability to find solutions for the most complex orthopedic problems, have earned Apex Orthopedic Rehabilitation its excellent reputation with patients and medical professionals in northeastern New Jersey and beyond.
A true “family man,” Tom takes pride in his clinic’s warm and welcoming environment. His passion for athletics and connecting with others, in addition to his personal experience with a high school football injury, ultimately led him toward a career in physical therapy. No stranger to life-altering pain. Tom is determined to help others get back to what they enjoy doing without relying on medications, unnecessary injections, MRIs, x-rays, or surgeries. Tom's ultimate goal is for his patients to feel better and move better to maintain an active lifestyle. His motto, simply put, is: JUST MOVE. He leads by example by encouraging his patients to engage in movement, which is the key to overall good health.
Tom enjoys furthering his knowledge in the field and educating others as well. He runs continuing education courses for local physical therapy clinics in the northern New Jersey area, hosts in-person and online workshops, and frequently posts informative blogs on his website and videos on his YouTube Channel and social media accounts.
In 2000, Tom traveled to Olympic Hospital in Madras, India, to co-treat individuals with orthopedic physical therapy issues. He was recently interviewed on "Coffee with Marci" and the "Dare to be Authentic" podcast.
Currently, Tom is working on a book about low back pain and sciatica titled: Just Move- a Guide to Conquering Low Back Pain and Sciatica.
Kathie has a degree in business with a minor in commercial art. She has recently retired from 14 years as an adult Ed Jewelry instructor. Before arriving at Apex in 2004, her previous job was in the jewelry inventory department and sales at Fortunoff’s. In addition, she regularly worked as their hands-on fashion show jewelry coordinator. She has also managed 2 Lord and Taylor and Saks 5th Ave Jewelry departments. She also had her own ETSY shop that featured her jewelry creations. Her jewelry has won numerous awards and has been featured in several magazines.
After taking a break from having a family, Kathie now manages the business and has been the insurance specialist for Apex Orthopedic Rehabilitation in Paramus, NJ, since 2004.
Kathie fills her weekends traveling, participating in fundraisers, and enjoying concerts. She is also an active member of the RBA, NY. She loves being outside, swimming, boating, canoeing, and planning for her next jewelry designs.
Tracey Doyle is a pediatric Physical Therapist who has been practicing for over 20 years. She received her Masters in PT from Mercy College in 1997. Tracey was clinically trained at both NYU-Langone and NYP-Weil Cornell. She brings years of clinical knowledge, practice, and continuing education classes in the Birth to 3 developmental population and the 3 to 18 developmental and sports injury populations.
Tracey is committed to providing the highest quality Pediatric Physical Therapy. She began her career with a passion and love for helping those in need. She prides herself on empowering young women to be confident and strong. Her passion and love for providing care for patients are evident in her practice.
Tracey and her husband Kieran raised their daughters, Katie, and Allie, in Ridgewood, NJ. Tracey loves to bake and enjoys reading on the beach. She also loves spending time with her family skiing, hiking, camping, or catching a lacrosse game.
Gil Santos received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rutgers University in 2021. During his clinical rotations, Gil gained experience in various clinical settings such as outpatient orthopedics, industrial outpatient, hospital outpatient, and acute care. In addition, Gil treated patients with various orthopedic injuries and post-op procedures.
Gil's philosophy is to tailor his treatment to the individual because he understands that each person has specific goals and needs.
Outside the clinic, Gil enjoys playing tennis, weightlifting, running, and watching as many sports as possible. Failing that you’ll find him eating “Baked Ziti” or any other kind of pasta dish. Interestingly, Gil received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism before pursuing physical therapy.
Ivana is a senior at William Paterson University pursuing a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. Her long-term goal is to become a physical therapist that specializes in prosthetics. In her free time, she enjoys time with friends. In addition, she is an adventurous eater and loves trying new foods.
Elijah attends Jersey City University and is studying Criminal Justice. You can find him playing Xbox with friends, going to the gym, and seeing his grandparents every weekend. Many may not know, but Elijah has a famous cousin that created Hamilton and the music for Moana, and it has traveled to over seven different countries.
Madison is a senior at William Paterson University majoring in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. After completion of her bachelor's degree, she plans to further her education and receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy with a focus in Pediatrics. Outside school and work, she enjoys exercising, crocheting, hanging out with friends, and playing with her dog Henry. She fits right in at Apex with her obsession with food, especially Sushi.
